I'm delighted to have joined the staff at Rinn in December 2019. I have worked in a few small churches along the way and am excited to bring my administrative skills here to serve Pastor Robin and the people of Rinn! I'm new to Colorado, having moved here from California in October 2019. I'm adjusting to the cold (brrrr!!) weather while absolutely loving the beauty of the Front Range!

I started at Rinn in July 2019. I am an ordained American Baptist Pastor cross credentialed in the United Methodist Church. My previous appointments include Wiley and McClave United Methodist Churches and the Chugwater/Wheatland, Wyoming charge. Prior to this, I worked as a college professor in the field of communication studies for 25-years. I taught media production and have produced documentaries and videos for church organizations. I have a Ph.D. from the University of Utah, a Masters of Divinity from the Graduate Theological Union, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Walla Walla (in theology).
My wife, Reverend Claire Cassell, serves as a Lutheran Hospital Chaplain in Lakewood and in pastoral care at Abiding Hope Lutheran Church in Littleton. We have two small dogs, Murphy, a Boston Terrier, and Gracie, a papillon.
I am excited about the ministry at Rinn UMC, the "church on the highway." This congregation is vibrant, diverse, and engaging. I hope you will join us for worship or one of our other church activities.
We are pleased to introduce our new caretaker, Cody Johnson. Cody was raised in the area and graduated from Frederick high school. He has worked in a variety of jobs in groundskeeping, construction, janitorial, and farming. Cody currently operates his own landscaping business, CDJ Lawn Care. He is single and has two dogs. His mother, Melody, will be living in the parsonage with him. Melody currently works for Jefferson County schools. We look forward to a long working relationship.

Matt is a self-taught pianist who moved to Colorado in 2008 to study piano with Andrew Cooperstock at the University of Colorado. While attending university, he was employed by Tara Performing Arts High School, where he still works to this day. Aside from being the piano accompanist at Tara, he also teaches a wide range of courses including Music History, American History, the World Wars, and Economics. Matt also is a veteran of the US Marines and served in Iraq in 2003 and 2004. In 2006 he was awarded the Lucille Parish Ward Veteran’s Award for musical performance as a veteran, and he won again in 2007 making him the only veteran in the history of the award to win it twice. Matt has over a decade of experience playing for Catholic and Protestant worship services. He has recently moved to Longmont and is incredibly excited to begin serving as the piano accompanist at Rinn Community Methodist Church.

I am thrilled to be involved in your music department as the new choir director. I have been singing since I was a little girl—singing trios with my sisters and in kids’ choir in church (with my mom leading). I am a total “choir geek” and look forward to this adventure in making beautiful music!
