RINN UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
"Extending the Family of God to the Carbon Valley and Eastern Longmont"
Cowboy Christian Fellowship Coordinator
I started at Rinn just a few months ago. I am an ordained American Baptist Pastor cross credentialed in the United Methodist Church. My previous appointments include Wiley and McClave United Methodist Churches and the Chugwater/Wheatland, Wyoming charge. Prior to this I worked as a college professor in the field of communication studies for 25-years. I taught media production and have produced documentaries and videos for church organizations. I have a Ph.D from the University of Utah, a Masters of Divinity from the Graduate Theological Union and a Bachelors of Arts from the University of Walla Walla (in theology).
My wife, Reverend Claire Cassell, serves as a Lutheran Hospital Chaplain in Lakewood and in pastoral care at Abiding Hope Lutheran Church in Littleton.
I am excited about the ministry at Rinn UMC, the "church on the highway." This congregation is vibrant, diverse and engaging. I hope you will join us for worship or one of our other church activities.

I am going into my 5th year at Rinn United Methodist Church, serving as the Music Director (piano accompanist and choir director). My full-time job is teaching K-8 general music at Global Leadership Academy of Mapleton Public Schools in North Denver. I am an avid singer and have been playing the piano for the past 22 years.
I received two degrees from CU Boulder in 2016 for Piano Performance and English Literature; I graduated from CU Boulder again in 2018, gaining my teaching license with an emphasis in choral education.
I have absolutely loved my time at Rinn and have found such a beautiful spiritual and musical community of people. When I began leading the choir in 2015 we only had five members. Since then we have grown to 25 participants. I so look forward to the years to come!
I've been the Church Office Manager for almost a year and a member of Rinn Church a little over a year. Formerly a member of St. Luke’s UMC in Highlands Ranch years ago, the "little white church" next to I-25 just called my name when I moved to Firestone from Erie 4 years ago.
I love helping the wonderful people and families who attend Rinn Church. It is truly a joy to come to work each day. I owned a business in the late 90's and decided to sell and go to work in medical offices and a hospital, doing billing, coding and documentation. I continue to work part time for a home health care agency in Longmont where I have been employed for the past 10 years. My move to Rinn Church is a step toward eventual retirement.
My joys in life have been my animals! I cared for Rosco, my horse for 6 years after he was badly injured and had a non-healing wound in his chest where his lung used to be. I promised him as long as he thrived we would ride and hang out together. He is now in heaven where he was destined to live. My two-year-old Golden Retriever, Gracie is learning to become a therapy dog. Occasionally she comes along and helps me work in the church office.
